Business Overview - The American Indoor Difference

This website is the online presence of American Indoor Advertising, Inc. (AIAI), which began operations in 1988. Our goal here is to offer a “one-stop-shop” for people that are looking for information and support on purchasing indoor advertising signage, hosting indoor advertising displays on their premises or learning about operating an indoor advertising business.

AIAI delivers a powerful alternative for national and regional advertisers that want to reach people in the 21 to 55 age cohort. People spend one to three minutes reading restroom display ads. High advertiser and host venue retention rates testify to the effectiveness of AIAI’s unique advertising model and host venue compensation models.

AIAI POSTS ALL OF OUR OWN ADS
AIAI has more venues than any other indoor advertising company in each of the metro areas that we serve. AIAI will not list metros or host venues on our website that we do not serve. BE CAREFUL. Most indoor advertising companies use cross selling agreements to fill their orders. Their websites list multiple cities that they serve, when in reality, they do not have established operations in those cities. When orders come in, they quickly solicit other indoor advertising companies to fill those orders. The third-party advertising buys are problematic because there are NO CONTROL SYSTEMS in place for the advertisers. There is no way to audit if the display ads are placed on time or if they are maintained properly or that they will stay posted for the entire term of the agreement. AIAI never uses third parties to post our clients’ ads.

ACCURATE MONTHLY IMPRESSIONS / TRAFFIC
AIAI has specific criteria to qualify host venues. Our host venues combine high traffic with quality demographics. AIAI is the only such company that performs a site survey when we sign new venues. When we perform this survey, we identify the number of patrons that each venue serves each month. Our average host venue serves 8,500 patrons per month. This is important to note because many indoor advertising companies suggest on their Rate Cards that their average venue serves 20,000 patrons per month. This is completely unrealistic. BE CAREFUL, these models cost Advertisers much more on a cost per thousands basis and deliver much less reach and frequency compared to AIAI’s model. AIAI provides traffic counts for each of our host venues and we enable you to verify those numbers.

A SUCCESS FORMULA
- Each of AIAI’s displays presents 9 large ad spaces.
- Once we sell 9 ads in a metro, we are SOLD OUT.
- AIAI installs thousands of displays at hundreds of venues throughout each metro area we serve. In a six month term, millions of people see the same 9 ads over and over. At the end of the term, millions of consumers actually have our client’s ads memorized, verbatim.

AIAI’s MODEL OF MULTIPLE ADS VERSUS SINGLE AD PANEL DISPLAYS AND VIDEO
AIAI does not use video displays or large single ad displays. Although these options may be attractive, they are completely ineffective. If it seems like we are biased, WE ARE. This business is about reaching shear numbers of impressions. Single panel and video displays reach far fewer of the total number of impressions than AIAI’s multiple ads per display model.

Case and Point:
1) Video and single panel displays are not installed in restroom stalls, but rather in the open areas of the restrooms. These companies typically post two displays per Venue. One in each of the open areas of the mens and women’s restrooms. Patrons using the stalls miss their displays. Video providers are forced to charge a premium in order to cover the extensive cost of their hardware, software, and support systems. AIAI doesn’t have those costs. AIAI posts your ads on every display at each venue and that may be as many as 5, 10 or even 100 displays at a given venue.

2) With the single panel and video display models, the advertisers garner one, maybe two ads per impression. AIAI with AIAI’s new model, we deliver 9 large ads per impression. This is not highway billboard advertising where the advertiser is limited to a 3 second impression time. People have plenty of time to read each of the ads because each impression can last as long as 2 to 3 minutes.

3) Fact: The companies that use the single panel and video display models typically post their displays in a fraction of the number of venues in a given metro compared to AIAI. It would be a longshot that consumers would actually see the same ad twice at other venues around town. With AIAI’s model, your ads will be seen on every display at hundreds of other venues around town.

What they don’t tell you... Because they actually reach far fewer the impressions of AIAI’s model, you would logically think the advertising cost would be lower; just the opposite is true. When you factor the cost to reach the actual lower number of monthly impressions, with the single ad or video display models, it is actually significantly higher than what you are quoted. When you consider the actual cost per thousand of impressions, it turns out that a local cable TV or a cable buy would be more effective.

Indoor advertising is effective because of the long impression times garnered while people are actually going to the restroom in the stalls and at the urinals. If the displays are not installed specifically in the stalls and over the urinals, then, don’t bother. Generally speaking, most people do not go out to dinner with family and friends, only to stand in a bathroom and read ads. Rather, they go to the restroom to pee, that’s why AIAI places our displays directly in the stalls and over the urinals.

REACH AND FREQUENCY ARE A MUST
Most advertisers today will agree that radio, TV, and newspaper advertising have lost much of their effectiveness because they are both expensive and saturated. Pop-up blockers and spam guards on the Internet also prevent advertisers from getting their messages seen.
